The Center for Aging & Community at the University of Indianapolis has launched CareReady Academy, a caregiver learning program designed to help family members, friends and neighbors build practical skills for caring for older adults at home. WISH-TV featured Emily Tisdale, executive director of UIndy’s Center for Aging & Community, who discussed how the eight-class program teaches topics such as home safety, falls prevention, dementia and mental health awareness, legal and medical planning, emergency preparedness and hands-on caregiving skills. Participants can earn a certificate for each completed class and a CareReady Diploma after completing all eight sessions. The coverage highlights how University of Indianapolis expertise in aging studies, caregiver education and community health supports broader efforts to equip unpaid caregivers with confidence, practical knowledge and resources for helping older adults age safely and with dignity.
