University of Indianapolis offers free vaccination clinic amid renewed awareness over preventable disease outbreaks
The University of Indianapolis is proud to partner with the Indiana Immunization Coalition and the Central Indiana Area Health Care Education Center to offer a free vaccination clinic at the Schwitzer Student Center on Tuesday, Sept. 15 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The clinic is open to all members of the public and will include a wide variety of vaccines at no cost including Hepatitis A and B, HPV, influenza, meningitis, pertussis (whooping cough), pneumonia and tetanus vaccines.
Recent headlines underscore the urgency and importance of remaining up-to-date on vaccinations. Just last week, Pennsylvania health officials reported two measles-associated deaths from people who were not vaccinated. There have been a total of five deaths in the United States due to measles in the last two years, more than the last three decades combined. There have been more than 2,900 cases of measles reported to the CDC this year, an increase of more than 600 cases compared to all of 2025.
“Recent measles-related deaths and outbreaks across the country are heartbreaking reminders that diseases that can be prevented with a safe and effective vaccine still pose a very real threat,” said Toni Morris, associate professor of nursing and organizer of the clinic. “By hosting this clinic with the Indiana Immunization Coalition, we’re helping remove barriers and make it easier for both individuals and families to get the protection they need. Each vaccine we give at this clinic not only protects people and their loved ones, but also helps protect the broader community across Central Indiana.”
Additional clinics are scheduled for Tuesday Nov. 3 and Tuesday April 6, 2027, so that individuals who need to complete a multishot series of vaccinations are able to do so. The goal is that by offering clinics at the same location and at the same time, it will break down barriers that individuals may face.
The vaccination clinic will be held inside the Schwitzer Student Center on Sept. 15, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Members of the public are encouraged to park in the parking lots outside of Schwitzer, just off East Hanna Avenue, particularly the Wesley Circle parking lot outside of Ransburg Auditorium or the visitor parking lot between Schwitzer and Nicoson Hall and the Ruth Lilly Fitness Center. Insurance is not required, however, if you do have insurance, please bring your information.
